What can the HY20CPHT pole hedge trimmer cut?
With a 450mm / 17” laser-cut sharpened steel blade cutting blade, this hedge trimmer will slice through all types of hedging up to 16mm in diameter, making quick work of hedge trimming and also providing a precise cut. When held 1m above the ground (at average working height), this pole trimmer will provide you with a massive 2.6m of reach, allowing you to trim even the tallest of hedges.
The angle of our pole trimmer’s head can be adjusted left or right to change the angle of your cut when sculpting shrubs or switching between cutting the sides and tops of hedges.
The hedge trimmer conveniently retracts for compact and space-saving storage and transport.

I am a gardener by trade and the pro’s to using this when up a ladder to working with a petrol hedge cutter are safety being able to stop to adjust the head and weight on your arms/ shoulder. I am very impressed with its ability to be able to cut. Its battery power is very good and will last for a very long time. I have two
batteries which I have on me permanently and always charge as soon as I start with the other one. The ability to be able to use the long reach has been excellent.
The only con being honest is the speed of the cutter compared to my petrol hedge cutter. So I tend to jump between the machines if I am honest, particularly if the hedge has lots of branches, but this means that I can save on the costs of petrol and also less fumes for me. So I would recommend for smaller every day use of cutting back shrubs and hedges. Looking forward to seeing what the technology is able to do in the future and can see that weight and battery wise this is a good product. I think there can be improvements with the speed and what it can cut but that’s only because I have used a petrol hedge cutter previously.
But for the money to get the whole kit and a battery for £118 you can go wrong.
Not as powerful as a mains trimmer but great that there’s no cord to fuss about.
As others have mentioned it’s top heavy and tiring to use.
The shoulder strap is of little or no use, in fact I removed it as it simply gets in the way.
The battery didn’t last for the duration of the trimming, that said it was a monster bush that I was attacking and the break during recharge gave my arms a rest.
For my ordinary bushes and hedges it should work adequately.
The construction seems solid enough and the cutting blades are sharp.
I would recommend this tool if you have arms like Arnold Schwarzenegger, or you’re on a body building course!

Fantastic bit of kit, not too heavy, quiet in operation and cuts through the hedge well, battery lasts too with a way to check what power is left in the battery. I did move the strap fixings further up the pole to get a better balance. I would recommend this.

The device is well built and the Trimmer does what it says on the box and as contained in the instructions. The '4 Star' making (rather than 5) was for two reasons; when fully extended the very heavy weight of the cutting head requires much strength to operate. Also I thought the Trimmer was broken when it ceased to function but there is a tiny safety button on the shaft, which must be compressed by a plastic 'sleeve' to maintain the power supply. Now not a problem. Otherwise all OK and fit for purpose.
