10 tips - How to get your garden ready for Spring / Summer 2023
Homes across the United Kingdom have been patiently waiting for Spring 2023 to arrive and it is truly nearly upon us! The first official day of Spring is this Monday 20th March.
We can't wait to get outside and make the most of the glorious British sunshine and we've already been hearing the familiar sound of mowers in action near our office HQ in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.
Us Brit's know that Spring and Summer are the perfect seasons to enjoy our outdoor spaces. After a long and rather challenging winter weather-wise, it’s time to get outside and enjoy some fresh air, sunshine and nature.
If this weekend will be your first venture into the garden, don't worry - it's not too late! It's the perfect time to get out there and get things sorted.
Here are 10 tips to help you get your garden or outdoor space ready to enjoy through the impending warming seasons.
- Clear away any debris from winter storms and prune back any damaged or dead branches from trees and shrubs. A multi-tool has everything you may need to make short work of even the toughest gardening tasks.
- Trim your grass, rake up any leaves or debris from your lawn and use a quality lawn mower to give it a good cut. This will encourage healthy growth and make your garden look neat and tidy.
- Add some compost or fertiliser to your soil to provide your plants with the nutrients they need to thrive.
- Plant some bulbs or seedlings for a splash of colour in your garden. Spring-flowering bulbs like daffodils and tulips are easy to grow and add a pop of colour to your outdoor space.
- Add some hanging baskets or window boxes filled with seasonal plants and flowers to brighten up your outdoor space.
- Clean and repair any garden furniture and set it up in a comfortable and inviting seating area.
- Create a designated area for outdoor dining by setting up a table and chairs or picnic blanket.
- Set up some outdoor lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in the evenings.
- Add some water features, like a bird bath or fountain, to attract wildlife to your garden and create a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
- Finally, make sure to keep your garden or outdoor space tidy by regularly pressure washing, weeding, pruning, and cleaning up any litter or debris.
By following these tips, you’ll have a beautiful and inviting outdoor space that’s perfect for enjoying the warm weather, entertaining guests, or simply relaxing and unwinding after a long day. As soon as the sun makes it's appearance and stays with us - you will be ready to get outside, soak up some sunshine, and enjoy all that your garden or outdoor space has to offer!
