How to Service Your Hyundai HYM430SP Lawnmower

Air Filter Change

  1. Locate the air filter cover on the front left-hand side of the engine.

  2. Push down on the two plastic lugs and pull the top of the box out.

  3. Remove the old air filter and replace it with a new one.

  4. Latch the bottom hinges back in place, push the cover firmly, and secure it.

Spark Plug Change


Estimated Completion Time - 10 minutes


  1. Locate the spark plug cap on the front left-hand side of the engine.

  2. Firmly pull off the cap and set it aside.

  3. Use a spark plug spanner and bar to loosen the spark plug.

  4. Remove the old spark plug and replace it with a new one, ensuring it is screwed in by hand first.

  5. Tighten the plug using the spanner and bar, then reattach the spark plug cap firmly.

Oil Change


Estimated Completion Time - 20 minutes (inc. warming up the engine)


  1. Run the lawnmower for about 15–20 minutes to warm the oil.

  2. Remove the dipstick and choose a draining method:

  3. Tip the lawnmower and let the oil flow out.

  4. Use a fluid extractor to remove the oil via the dipstick hole.

  5. Use the drain plug at the bottom of the mower to release the oil.

  6. Once drained, refill the engine with fresh oil.

  7. Check the oil level using the dipstick and ensure it is between the low (L) and high (H) marks.

Blade Change


Estimated Completion Time - 15 minutes


  1. Ensure the lawnmower is completely drained of oil and remove the spark plug cap for safety.

  2. Wear gloves and hold the blade securely.

  3. Use a 1/2-inch ratchet to loosen the bolt securing the blade.

  4. Remove the bolt, washer, and blade.

  5. Install the new or sharpened blade, ensuring the hump faces upwards.

  6. Secure it with the bolt and washer, tightening it firmly.

Recoil Start Mechanism Replacement

  1. Remove the plastic cover by unscrewing the two screws at the back.

  2. Use a 10mm socket to undo the three nuts holding the recoil starter.

  3. Lift the starter mechanism out and replace it with a new one.

  4. Reinstall the nuts and reattach the plastic cover.

OPC Cable Adjustment

  1. Identify excessive slack in the OPC handle and cable.

  2. Locate the cable adjustment point on the engine.

  3. Use two 13mm spanners to loosen the locking nuts.

  4. Pull the cable gently until resistance is felt.

  5. Secure the nuts and check the OPC handle for proper tension.

Clutch Cable Adjustment

  1. Identify slack in the clutch cable.

  3. Use an 8mm and 10mm spanner to loosen the locking nut.

  4. Rotate the adjustment barrel anti-clockwise to remove slack.
